Once a student's ID has been verified and they have been enrolled in the course, they can then be activated in the course. Their status will be indicated as enrolled and when you mouse over that button, the choices will be activate or drop. A student is generally made active when they have completed a specific amount of the course (e.g. 5%).
Click the button to open the window. Select the date (default is today's date) and select Activate.
Select the arrow button on the right, or use the Table of Contents, to go to the next screen.
Before making active, a student may need to be dropped from the course. This is not possible AFTER the student is active.
When a student is 'dropped' in the SMS, their Moodle account in that course becomes 'suspended'. They are no longer able to access the course.
Add to MyEdBC
The course now needs to be added to the student's information in MyEdBC. The action button now changes to a different icon. Please note that this function will only appear if the site is using MyEdBC.
This is just a reminder to clerical to change the student's MyEdBC record for funding purposes. There is no actual function completed in MyEdBC by clicking this button.
Withdraw or Complete
After the student has been activated you can change their status to either 'Withdrawn' or 'Complete".
You will now have an additional reminder to add the information to MyEdBC.
When a student is 'completed' or 'withdrawn' in the SMS, their Moodle account in that course becomes 'suspended'. They are no longer able to access the course but the data (report card, status, etc) is still available.
